Distribuend

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003339

The specific chemical species being distributed between two immiscible or partially miscible phases. This substance, often a solute, moves from one phase to another until equilibrium is reached. The concentration of the distribuend in each phase at equilibrium is described by the partition coefficient or distribution ratio, which quantifies its affinity for each phase.
