Partition ratio

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008523

The ratio of the total amount of a solute in the stationary phase to the total amount of the solute in the mobile phase at equilibrium within a chromatographic system. This value, often denoted as k', is a measure of how strongly an analyte is retained by the stationary phase. It is directly related to the retention time of a compound in chromatography.
