Parturition

The physiological process of giving birth, involving a complex series of hormonal and mechanical events that lead to the expulsion of the fetus and placenta from the uterus. This process marks the end of gestation and the beginning of the postnatal period. In humans, it is commonly referred to as labor and delivery.
