Relating to the period immediately following birth, encompassing the physiological and developmental changes occurring in an organism after it has exited the uterus or egg. This phase is characterized by rapid growth and maturation of organ systems, adapting to an independent existence. In humans, the postnatal period typically extends for several weeks to months after delivery.
