Distribution ratio

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003346

The ratio of the total analytical concentration of a solute in one phase to its total analytical concentration in another immiscible phase, at equilibrium. This ratio is often used in liquid-liquid extraction to quantify the efficiency of a separation process. It is a dimensionless quantity, but its value depends on the specific conditions of the extraction, such as temperature and pH.
