Synaptic plasticity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011742

The ability of synapses, the junctions between neurons, to modify their strength and efficacy over time. This dynamic property allows for changes in the communication efficiency between nerve cells in response to their activity levels. It is considered a fundamental cellular mechanism underlying learning and memory formation in the brain.
