Hippocampal slice culture
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005308
An ex vivo preparation involving thin sections of hippocampal tissue maintained in a nutrient medium. This technique preserves the cytoarchitecture and synaptic connections of the hippocampus, allowing for the study of neuronal activity and plasticity. These cultures are used to investigate neurotoxicity, neuroprotection, and mechanisms of learning and memory.
