Hippocampus
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005309
A major component of the limbic system in the vertebrate brain, located in the medial temporal lobe. It is involved in the formation of new memories and spatial navigation. Damage to this structure can result in severe anterograde amnesia, as observed in patients with bilateral hippocampal lesions.
