Amygdala
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000528
A pair of almond-shaped clusters of nuclei located deep within the medial temporal lobes of the brain. As a component of the limbic system, the amygdala is involved in processing memory, decision-making, and emotional responses such as fear, anxiety, and aggression. Neurotoxicology studies often examine this structure for changes in function or morphology following exposure to certain chemical agents.
