Neurotoxicology

The scientific discipline that studies the adverse effects of chemical, biological, or physical agents on the nervous system. It investigates the mechanisms by which these agents cause damage, the resulting neurological dysfunctions, and methods for prevention and treatment. This field combines aspects of toxicology, neuroscience, and pharmacology.
