Developmental toxicology

The scientific discipline that studies the adverse effects of chemical, physical, or biological agents on the developing organism from conception through puberty. It investigates the mechanisms by which these agents induce structural malformations, growth retardation, functional deficits, or death. This field encompasses prenatal and postnatal exposures and their long-term consequences.
