Amnesia

A partial or total loss of memory, often resulting from brain injury, disease, or psychological trauma. It can manifest as an inability to form new memories (anterograde amnesia) or to recall past events (retrograde amnesia). The hippocampus and surrounding medial temporal lobe structures are frequently implicated in amnesic syndromes.
