Aminyl radicals
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012864
Reactive intermediates of the general structure R₂N•, where an uncharged nitrogen atom bears an unpaired electron. They are formally derived from ammonia or amines by the removal of one hydrogen atom. Depending on the substituents, aminyl radicals can be either π-centered, with a planar geometry at the nitrogen, or σ-centered, with a pyramidal geometry.
