Dentate gyrus

A part of the hippocampus in the brain, characterized by its tightly packed granule cells. This region is involved in the formation of new episodic memories and the exploration of novel environments. It is one of the few brain regions where neurogenesis, the birth of new neurons, continues into adulthood.
