Granule cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004995
A small neuron characterized by its granular appearance, found in several regions of the brain, most notably the cerebellum and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus. These cells typically have short dendrites and an unmyelinated axon. In the cerebellum, they are the most numerous type of neuron, forming excitatory synapses with Purkinje cells.
