Purkinje cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013455
A large, flask-shaped neuron located in the cerebellar cortex, characterized by an extensive dendritic tree. These cells are GABAergic, meaning they release gamma-aminobutyric acid, an inhibitory neurotransmitter. Purkinje cells are the sole output neurons of the cerebellar cortex, projecting to the deep cerebellar nuclei and regulating motor coordination and learning.
