Purine bases

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009686

Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic organic compounds characterized by a fused pyrimidine and imidazole ring system. These bases are fundamental components of nucleic acids, where they form hydrogen bonds to stabilize the double helix structure. Adenine and guanine are the two primary purine bases found in DNA and RNA.
