Pyrimidine

A heterocyclic aromatic organic compound containing two nitrogen atoms at positions 1 and 3 of a six-membered ring. It forms the structural basis for three of the five nucleobases found in nucleic acids: cytosine, thymine, and uracil. Pyrimidine derivatives are also found in some vitamins and drugs.
