Nucleobase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008131
A nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound that forms the fundamental building blocks of nucleic acids, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). These organic bases include purines (adenine and guanine) and pyrimidines (cytosine, thymine, and uracil). They are responsible for encoding genetic information through specific base pairing interactions.
