Purine

A heterocyclic aromatic organic compound consisting of a pyrimidine ring fused to an imidazole ring. It forms the structural basis for two of the four nucleobases in DNA and RNA, adenine and guanine. Purines are also components of other biomolecules, including ATP and cyclic AMP.
