Heterocyclic compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005235
Cyclic organic compounds where at least one atom in the ring is not carbon, but typically nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur. These compounds are ubiquitous in nature and synthetic chemistry, forming the basis of many drugs, vitamins, and natural products. Their ring sizes vary, with five- and six-membered rings being most common.
