Quinarenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009783
Conjugated hydrocarbons made of three carbocyclic rings in a row, in which a central six-membered quinonoid ring is joined at its 1,4-positions by exocyclic double bonds to two odd-membered rings whose sizes differ by two, for example five- and seven-membered rings. They are mancude, meaning they carry the maximum number of noncumulative double bonds. Quinodimethanes are the simpler relatives, with two methylene groups in place of the end rings.
