Isolated double bonds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006196
Two or more carbon-carbon double bonds within a molecule that are separated from each other by at least two single bonds. The pi orbitals of these double bonds do not interact, so they behave as independent functional groups. This arrangement contrasts with conjugated systems, where double bonds are separated by one single bond, and cumulative systems, where double bonds share a common atom.
