Allenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000414
Organic compounds in which one carbon atom is double-bonded to two other carbon atoms, forming a cumulative double bond system (C=C=C). This arrangement results in a linear geometry for the three carbon atoms and often leads to axial chirality if the substituents on the terminal carbons are different. They are a specific class of cumulenes with two consecutive double bonds.
