Mesoionic compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007214
Five- or six-membered heterocyclic compounds that cannot be represented satisfactorily by a single uncharged canonical structure. They possess a hybrid structure with positive and negative charges delocalized over the ring atoms, and the charges are not localized on adjacent atoms. These compounds are typically stable and exhibit unique reactivity patterns.
