Cyclohexadienyl cations
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002823
Carbocations derived from cyclohexadiene, characterized by a delocalized positive charge over a six-membered ring containing two double bonds and a sp2 hybridized carbon atom. These species are also known as arenium ions when they are intermediates in electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions. The positive charge is delocalized across five carbon atoms of the ring.
