Allylic intermediates
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000442
Reactive chemical species that possess a delocalized pi-electron system spanning three carbon atoms, where the central carbon is sp2 hybridized and the two terminal carbons are also sp2 hybridized. These intermediates, which can be cations, anions, or radicals, exhibit resonance stabilization due to the conjugation of the pi system. Their stability and reactivity are influenced by the nature of substituents attached to the allylic system.
