Benzylic intermediates
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001195
Reactive chemical species, such as carbocations, carbanions, or radicals, where the charge or unpaired electron is located on a carbon atom directly attached to a benzene ring. These intermediates are stabilized by resonance with the aromatic system. Their stability contributes to the reactivity observed at the benzylic position.
