Partial rate factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008495

A quantitative measure of the reactivity of a specific position in an aromatic compound towards electrophilic substitution, relative to the reactivity of a single position in benzene. It indicates the activating or deactivating effect and the directing influence of substituents on the aromatic ring. Partial rate factors are calculated from the overall reaction rate and the product distribution.
