Ene reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003914
A pericyclic reaction involving an alkene with an allylic hydrogen (the 'ene') and a compound containing a multiple bond (the 'enophile'). The reaction results in the formation of a new sigma bond, migration of the ene's double bond, and transfer of the allylic hydrogen to the enophile. This is a concerted reaction, often proceeding through a six-membered transition state.
