Allylic groups
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000441
Substituent groups possessing an unsaturated carbon atom that is attached to a saturated carbon atom, which in turn is attached to the rest of the molecule. The core structure is represented as C=C-C-Z, where Z is the point of attachment. This arrangement leads to characteristic reactivity, such as in allylic substitution or rearrangement reactions.
