Schenck reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010572

A photochemical reaction involving the addition of singlet oxygen to an alkene containing an allylic hydrogen, forming an allylic hydroperoxide. This reaction proceeds via an ene mechanism, where the singlet oxygen acts as an electrophile. The hydroperoxide product can then be reduced to an allylic alcohol.
