Singlet-singlet absorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010904
The process where a molecule in its ground electronic singlet state absorbs a photon and transitions to an excited electronic singlet state. In this transition, the spin multiplicity of the excited state remains the same as the ground state. This type of absorption is typically strong and forms the basis for many molecular absorption spectroscopy techniques.
