Singlet-singlet energy transfer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010905

A process where electronic excitation energy is transferred from a donor molecule in its excited singlet state to an acceptor molecule, which is then promoted to its own excited singlet state. This transfer occurs without the net movement of electrons or photons between the molecules. The efficiency of this process is often described by Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) or Dexter electron exchange mechanisms.
