FRET
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004672
The abbreviation for Förster resonance energy transfer, a non-radiative process where energy is transferred from an excited donor fluorophore to an acceptor chromophore through long-range dipole-dipole coupling. This transfer occurs without the emission of a photon by the donor and is highly dependent on the distance between the donor and acceptor, typically occurring over distances of 1-10 nanometers.
