Freundlich adsorption isotherm

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004673

An empirical equation that describes the adsorption of solutes from a liquid onto a solid surface, particularly relevant for heterogeneous surfaces. It relates the amount of adsorbate adsorbed per unit mass of adsorbent to the equilibrium concentration of the adsorbate in the liquid phase. This isotherm is characterized by two parameters, an adsorption capacity and an adsorption intensity, and is widely used in environmental science to model contaminant sorption to soils and sediments.
