Adsorption capacity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000283

The maximum amount of a substance (adsorbate) that can be adsorbed onto a unit mass or unit surface area of an adsorbent under specified conditions of temperature and pressure. It represents the limiting value of adsorption as the concentration or pressure of the adsorbate increases. Adsorption capacity is a key parameter in evaluating the performance of materials like activated carbon or zeolites and is determined from an adsorption isotherm.
