Solubility
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011010
The maximum amount of a substance (solute) that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent at a specific temperature and pressure to form a saturated solution. It is a characteristic physical property of a substance and is often expressed in terms of mass per unit volume of solvent, moles per liter, or as a mass percentage. The solubility of most solids increases with temperature, while that of gases decreases.
