Solubilising agents
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011009
Substances added to a formulation to increase the solubility of a poorly soluble compound in a given solvent, often water. These agents work by mechanisms such as micelle formation, complexation, or co-solvency, thereby enhancing the dissolution rate and bioavailability of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Common examples include surfactants, cyclodextrins, and organic co-solvents.
