Solid dispersion

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010990

A system in which at least one active ingredient is dispersed in an inert carrier or matrix in the solid state. This technique is used to enhance the dissolution rate and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs by improving their wettability and reducing particle size. The drug can exist in an amorphous, crystalline, or molecularly dispersed state within the carrier.
