Carrier substance

An inert or active material to which another substance, such as a pesticide or drug, is added to facilitate its physical handling, application, or administration. The carrier can be a solid, like clay or talc in dust formulations, or a liquid, such as water or oil in sprays. In toxicology studies, the carrier substance is administered to the control group to differentiate its effects from those of the test substance.
