Dissolution

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003327

The process by which a solute disperses into a solvent to form a homogeneous solution. This involves the breaking of intermolecular forces within the solute and solvent, followed by the formation of new interactions between solute and solvent molecules. The extent of dissolution is quantified by solubility.
