Medium effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007138
The change in the standard chemical potential of a solute or ion when transferred from a reference solvent, typically water, to another solvent. This effect arises from differences in solvation energies and intermolecular interactions between the solute and the two solvents. It quantifies how the solvent environment influences the thermodynamic properties and reactivity of dissolved species.
