Polymer-solvent interaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013421
The set of thermodynamic forces between polymer chain segments and solvent molecules in a solution. These interactions determine the solubility of the polymer and the conformation of its chains in the solvent. The Flory-Huggins interaction parameter, χ, is a dimensionless quantity used to characterize the energy of these intermolecular interactions.
