Χ-parameter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006332
A dimensionless interaction parameter in polymer solution theory, such as the Flory-Huggins theory, that quantifies the enthalpy of mixing between polymer segments and solvent molecules. A value of 0.5 indicates the theta condition, where the polymer-solvent interactions are effectively neutral. This parameter is temperature-dependent and can be determined experimentally from phase diagrams or osmotic pressure measurements.
