Quality of solvent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009742
A measure of how well a solvent interacts with a polymer, influencing the polymer's conformation and solubility. A 'good' solvent promotes polymer chain expansion, while a 'poor' solvent leads to chain collapse or precipitation. This property is quantified by parameters such as the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter or virial coefficients.
