Virial coefficients
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012585
Coefficients in the virial expansion, which is a power series used to express the deviation of a real gas from ideal gas behavior. These coefficients account for the interactions between molecules, with the second virial coefficient describing pairwise interactions and higher-order coefficients describing interactions among larger groups of molecules. They are temperature-dependent and can be used to determine intermolecular potentials.
