θ state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011911
A specific thermodynamic state of a polymer solution where the polymer chains behave as ideal chains, meaning there are no long-range interactions between segments. In this state, the second virial coefficient is zero, and the polymer chain dimensions are unperturbed by solvent interactions. This condition is achieved at the theta temperature.
