Unperturbed end-to-end distance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012448

The average distance between the two ends of a polymer chain when it is in an unperturbed conformational state, typically in a theta solvent. In this state, the effects of excluded volume are negligible, and the chain behaves as an ideal random coil. It is a measure of the overall size of the polymer coil under conditions where long-range interactions are screened.
