Root-mean-square unperturbed end-to-end distance
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010408
The average spatial separation between the ends of a polymer chain in an ideal theta solvent, where polymer-solvent and polymer-polymer interactions are balanced, and long-range excluded volume effects are absent. This value represents the intrinsic dimensions of the polymer chain, reflecting only short-range interactions and bond geometry. It is a fundamental property for characterizing polymer chain stiffness.
